>Last winter newly designed bike racks for the city of Buffalo were unveiled…I posted on it at the time (to read that post, click here). There are a few different designs and two of them are attached to auto parking meters…does anyone besides me see the irony in this? The other is a sort ofContinue reading “>We’re Finally Getting It.”

Car-Free Condo
I’ve posted about the excellent bike culture in Toronto a few times in the past (click here to read one)…and the city still impresses me (on many levels). Anyhow, a reader from Toronto sent me a link to an interesting story. It’s regarding the building of a new high-rise condo in the city. It willContinue reading “Car-Free Condo”

Two Pugs, a Bicycle, and Some Really Good Bread
If I were a rich guy (which I’m not) and if I could afford to have a business that didn’t turn a profit (which I can’t) I’d start a little bakery and deliver bread by bike…like many businesses did prior to the auto. Yup, that’s my pipe dream (ok…it’s one of many pipe dreams…always beenContinue reading “Two Pugs, a Bicycle, and Some Really Good Bread”

Smooth Operator
This is one cool dude…maybe a little crazy, too (what year is this…and he’s all bicycle–hepcat)…at least he doesn’t care what others think; looks like he’s being his true self…and he certainly looks happy. Images Found Here

You’d Miss This In A Moving Car
Sometimes I think walking is even better than biking (please don’t be mad at me, fellow bikers)…I just mean that it is so meditative and you can take so much in (biking, though, is still more practical, I think…with it’s speed and ability to carry stuff). I live in the historic Allentown neighborhood of Buffalo…it’sContinue reading “You’d Miss This In A Moving Car”

Biking and Spirituality
The “dashboard” of the mule, circa late January 2009 I have often found bicycling more than just a mode of transport from point-A to point-B. Nor is it simply a way to conserve gas money, get exercise, and save the planet…for me bicycling can actually be a meditative and spiritual practice. When I’m in trafficContinue reading “Biking and Spirituality”

Strip-Mall Parking
Yes, on occasion I venture to a big box store…I don’t like them (more specifically, I don’t like how they make me feel) but they usually have what I need at the time. At any rate, I went to a strip mall on the outskirts of our city today and was appalled at the virtualContinue reading “Strip-Mall Parking”

The lovely Jackie Kennedy-Onassis rode bicycles…and look how happy she looked.

Still Not Fixed
I’ve posted a couple times on my views of the fixed gear fad (to read them click here and here), and I recently came across an excellent and somewhat comical article at wired.com poking jest at fixies, titled 5 Inexplicable Fixie Fashions…it is rather funny and may make you laugh (to read it click here).
