>Tried it out for the first time this morning…pretty nifty. Splashes a little when going over bumps, though. But what a great way to have a coffee in the morning…coasting through town. It’ll probably work well for other beverages also…hmmm…maybe a (plastic) glass of wine.

>Another bike. Riding my Dahon folder yesterday I heard an odd clicking sound…a minute later the chain fell off the sprocket. Upon inspection I saw that a link had broken. I was going to fix it myself until I found out the bike shop would fix it for a little over ten bucks (new chainContinue reading “>Things That Can Be Carried On A Bike (#89)”

> This photo was found here. A tandem pulling pulling a velo-taxi to a swing club…nice! Wish we had these taxis today. The driver looks like he thinks he’s pretty damn cool…wonder where the other bicyclist is.

>Autumn
>Autumn. Gardening is over, essentially. And it was a lousy year for it, too. Low yield (probably because of all the rain in the beginning of the season)…some stuff died (corn mostly…not sure why, but other stuff, too…mostly because of my neglect)…and what did survive was taken by the rabbits (damned urban rabbits, click here).Continue reading “>Autumn”

We’re Finally Getting It.
Last winter newly designed bike racks for the city of Buffalo were unveiled…I posted on it at the time (to read that post, click here). There are a few different designs and two of them are attached to auto parking meters…does anyone besides me see the irony in this? The other is a sort ofContinue reading “We’re Finally Getting It.”

>Experiments In Fermentation
>I’ve been experimenting with fermentation for years…it never ceases to amaze me…put the ingredients together and provide the correct conditions (temperature and no oxygen) and it basically creates (grows) itself . Bread, yogurt, pickled vegetables and sauerkraut…all forms of fermentation. Anyhow, my latest experiment is two-fold. I’m making a form of kim chi using wholeContinue reading “>Experiments In Fermentation”
