Things That Can be Carried on a Bike (#465), and the View from My Handlebars

On the bike…a gallon of extra virgin olive oil. The view…a murder of crows overhead. Urban Simplicity.

Three Views from My Handlebars (early morning, late afternoon, and early evening) on the First Day of Spring

Urban Simplicity.

The View from My Handlebars…

I shot this on my way to work this morning. Those clouds looked (and still do look) incredible…sort of like a painting; like the sky was covered with a layer of cotton balls.Urban Simplicity

Five Photos of the Hudson River (taken from a moving train)

These photos dispel a few things. One is that New York State is entirely occupied by New York City. I know that people don’t actually believe this (well ok, some may), but often when you mention you are from another part of the state (Buffalo, for example) to someone who is not from the northeast,Continue reading “Five Photos of the Hudson River (taken from a moving train)”

On a Moon’s Eve

Tonight was/is a full moon. The Snow Moon. And it was such a nice evening–crisp but not too cold, clear, not a breeze in the air–that I grabbed a camera and went for a walk around the neighborhood. And these are a few of the things I saw…   Urban Simplicity.

The (two) View(s) from My Handlebars…

This was one of those days when it was such a joy to be on a bike and out in the open air. It was crisp and nice; no precipitation and not much wind. It felt so good to be using my own energy to propel not only me but my bike (and a fewContinue reading “The (two) View(s) from My Handlebars…”

L’Hiver…

As I rode to a meeting this evening it struck me that it was 6pm and there was still some light left in the sky; during the darkest days of winter the light shrinks away nearly two hours earlier…the days are getting longer! And as I pedaled and coasted into the winter’s cold wind IContinue reading “L’Hiver…”

Six Photos of NYC

I was in NYC over the weekend and snapped a few photos along the way. I was busy for most of the weekend but took photos as I walked to-and-fro. What’s interesting (I think) is that in my continued efforts to travel light (or at least travel lighter) I brought only one camera with meContinue reading “Six Photos of NYC”

Things I Saw While Riding My Bike Today…

One of my favorite things to do is ride around the city at night or during dusk and take photos; if I was an early bird–which I am not–I’m sure I would enjoy the dawn as well. Sometimes I really do question whether I am this guy reincarnated (but I’m getting off topic as IContinue reading “Things I Saw While Riding My Bike Today…”

Past and Present…The View from My Handlebars (#2)

This is really a continuation of a previous post that is similar. I had the day off today and went for a bike ride downtown (on a cold, cold day I may add) armed with a couple cameras and prints of old photos. All of the original photos were taken–I believe–somewhere between 1895 and 1910.Continue reading “Past and Present…The View from My Handlebars (#2)”

Past and Present…a View from My Handlebars separated by 116 Years

So this is interesting, I think. Earlier today I came across some old photos on this site (I love old photography). Anyhow, a few of the photos were streets that I travel on virtually every day. So I printed a couple of them out and stood in the spot of what I think is likelyContinue reading “Past and Present…a View from My Handlebars separated by 116 Years”
