Seven Photos of Père Lachaise Cemetery

This is a third installment of photos from my somewhat recent trip to Paris (click here or here to see others). These photos were taken at Père Lachaise Cemetery. And while it may seem morbid to some to go on vacation across an ocean and on a different continent and visit a cemetery full ofContinue reading “Seven Photos of Père Lachaise Cemetery”

Four Photos of Cabbage…

These are a few of the vegetables growing in my teeny front yard garden (in a few months these will fermented into kim chi). Such a humble vegetable but when studied up close–and through the lens of a camera–they are nature’s artwork… Urban Simplicity.

Five Photos of Gargoyles

This is another series from my recent trip to Paris. If you’ve ever been there–or even if you haven’t–you likely recognize these as the famed gargoyles that guard Notre Dame. I kept expecting to see Quasimodo around every corner I turned… Urban Simplicity.

Nine Photos of Paris…

Okay. I’m back…and here’s a few photos of what I saw. But first I want to thank those who commented, emailed, and continued to visit my humble blog during my absence. This is been the longest stretch–nine days, I think–that I’ve gone without posting since I first began. Thus, I’m posting nine photos; one forContinue reading “Nine Photos of Paris…”

Just a quick note…

Just a quick note to say a couple things. The first is that I will be away from my computer for the next week or so, thus postings will be sporadic if any at all. But also, I just wanted to say thanks for visiting and subscribing to my meager little blog (s). Over theContinue reading “Just a quick note…”

The View from My Handlebars…six photos of buildings and sky

I’ve mentioned this before but I will again. I find it interesting when on a bike how keenly aware you are of the weather (how could you not be). Last week, for example, we had a mini-heatwave and I was conscious of being a sweaty mess wherever I pedaled. Today, though, was just lovely…I knowContinue reading “The View from My Handlebars…six photos of buildings and sky”

A View from My Handlebars (five photos of Delaware Park)

Yesterday, after rushing around a hot kitchen and facing a stove for much of the day, I was happy to have the evening off with such wonderful weather. I was on the Mundo and  had to run a few errands so I took a shortcut (read, long-cut) through Delaware Park to make the ride aContinue reading “A View from My Handlebars (five photos of Delaware Park)”

Five Photos of Buildings and Sky

These were taken over two days. The top and bottom were taken today, and the middle three were shot yesterday. What a difference a day makes. Today there was nary a cloud in the sky and yesterday it rained for most of the day. The clouds broke just before sunset yesterday and it had theContinue reading “Five Photos of Buildings and Sky”

The Birds on my Porch (final post)

This is the continuation and sixth and final posting regarding a bird family that took up residence on my front porch a few weeks ago, just outside a window and a few feet from where I type these words. My apologies if these posts have been tiresome; I personally have found the whole process fascinating.Continue reading “The Birds on my Porch (final post)”

More about the Birds (numéro cinq)

So I was finally able to capture a couple pictures of the papa bird feeding the baby chicks (the top and bottom photo). And second from the bottom is the mother bird keeping a watchful eye as usual. Their breed was also identified…House Finch (thanks Rita!). And the image below is a closeup of oneContinue reading “More about the Birds (numéro cinq)”

Mother and Child Reunion

A few things first. In the event this is the first you’ve seen these birds this is a continuation of a post I started a week ago regarding birds that have taken residence on my front porch. To see previous posts, click here, here, and here. I’ve been somewhat concerned because I haven’t seen anyoneContinue reading “Mother and Child Reunion”
